Superintendent Message

Dear Students, Parents, Community Members, and Staff,

On behalf of the Mendota Township High School #280 Board of Education and administration, I would like to welcome all students, parents, teachers, support staff and community stakeholders to our district. Our high school district encompasses 196 square miles and includes surrounding communities of Compton, West Brooklyn, Troy Grove, and Mendota. We are a part of three counties–Bureau, LaSalle, and Lee. We have a strong tradition of academic, fine arts, activities, and athletic success. It is an honor and privilege to serve you as your Superintendnet. I am beginning my 28th year as an educator, and the 2023-2024 school year will be my 20th year at MHS. My 19 years as Principal here have been a great experience because of the outstanding staff, community, and students we represent. Mr. Joe Masini is continuing his Trojan Career this year as Principal. Together, we are honored to serve our entire community.

Please reach out to us with any questions or concerns. We know the past few years have stretched our community and educators in ways that are unsustainable with the demands of the pandemic. Mendota High School is focused on meeting the needs of our students, including remediating learning lapses from the pandemic breaks in education, so all students are prepared for their future college and career goals. We have a lot of work to do, and we are confident that with our coordination and family support that we will succeed.

Thank you for your support of our high school,

Dr. Denise Aughenbaugh, Superintendent
