Regular Board Meeting Minutes

September 25, 2006

            The regular board meeting of the Board of Education of Mendota Township High School District No. 280, LaSalle, Bureau, and Lee Counties, Illinois was held in the high school boardroom on Monday, September 25, 20006 at 7:15 p.m. pursuant to rule with a quorum present.

            President Bauer called the meeting to order, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.

On roll call the following members were recorded as present:  Burke, Flahive, Holdenrid, Jauch, Strouss, and Bauer.

            Bauer introduced members of the FFA group.  The group was at the meeting to request support for the 3 day National FFA Convention to be held 10/25-10/28.  Twelve students attend the convention with the sponsor.  Bauer and Burke commented on the FFA achievements over the past year.  Bauer thanked the FFA group for their presentation.

            A motion was made by Burke, seconded by Flahive to approve the FFA groups request to attend the FFA National Convention 10/25-10/28.  Upon roll call the following vote was recorded:  Ayes:  Jauch, Strouss, Burke, Flahive, Holdenrid, and Bauer.  No nays.  Motion carried.

            Bauer asked for approval on the following open meeting minutes:

            Regular Meeting – August 21, 2006

            Special Meeting – August 27, 2006

            Regular Meeting Corrections – September 19, 2005

A motion was made by Bauer, seconded by Holdenrid to approve the above open meeting minutes as reported.  The vote was unanimous by acclamation.

            Bauer asked for questions or comments on the Financial Reports.

Dr Vercimak arrived at the meeting.

            A motion was made by Bauer, seconded by Flahive to approve the Financial Reports as presented.  Upon roll call the following vote was recorded:  Ayes:  Jauch, Strouss, Vercimak, Burke, Flahive, Holdenrid, and Bauer.  No nays.  Motion carried.

            Bauer asked Princ. Aughenbaugh for her report.  Aughenbaugh reported on the following items.

            1. Faculty In-Service – Sept. 20^th Presenter was Jen Masini.

            2. Edline On Line Grades – Mr. Siri and Mr. Mosier working on this project

            3. 10^th Day Enrollment – 652 students

            4. PSAE Tests Results – no scores released by ISBE

            5. NCIC Articulation

            6. IVHS Gifted Curriculum – 12 students enrolled in various classes.

Bauer thanked Aughenbaugh for her report and asked Supt. Prusator for his report.

            Prusator told the board that a motion was necessary to approve the FY07 Budget which has been on display for 30 days as required.  Prusator told the board that this budget may need to be amended once all salary data for teachers is approved.  A motion was made by Vercimak, seconded by Flahive to approve the FY07 Budget as presented.  Upon roll call the following vote was recorded:  Ayes:  Jauch, Strouss, Vercimak, Burke, Flahive, Holdenrid, and Bauer.  No nays.  Motion carried.

            Prusator asked for questions or comments on Waiver of School Holidays.  A motion was made by Vercimak, seconded by Burke to approve the Waiver of School Holidays as presented.  The vote was unanimous be acclamation.

            Prusator asked for a motion to approve the Application for Recognition of Schools for 2006-07.  A motion was made by Burke, seconded by Vercimak to approve the Application for Recognition of Schools 2006-07.  The vote was unanimous by acclamation. 

            Prusator concluded his report.

            With no further business to conduct in open session, a motion was made by Bauer, seconded by Holdenrid to adjourn into closed session for the purpose of: 1) the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees; 2) discussion of sale/purchase of real property; and 3) discussion of negotiations.  Upon roll call the following vote was recorded:  Ayes:  Jauch, Strouss, Vercimak, Burke, Flahive, Holdenrid, and Bauer.  No nays.  Motion carried.

            The meeting adjourned into closed session at approx. 7:30 p.m.
